Online Showcase 2025

Welcome to the Unity Studios 2025 Online Showcase!

We’re proud to continue celebrating the creativity, growth and dedication of our mentees through this annual showcase – now live from our beautiful new space!

From our in-studio showcases (2016–2019) to our online pivot (2020–2021) and hybrid events in recent years, each showcase has reflected our community’s resilience, heart and talent. 2025 is no exception!

Each video includes a description where you can learn more about the participant and their creative journey. Please enjoy, celebrate, and don’t forget to share the link with friends, family, and loved ones – the more support our mentees receive, the better!

Music at Unity Studios: Collaboration, Creativity & Growth

At Unity Studios, music is more than just sound — it’s a shared language that connects people, builds confidence, and brings our community together.

Across all our programs, music acts as a powerful tool for personal development. Whether it’s songwriting, performance, recording, or group collaboration, these projects reflect the incredible range of life and social skills being developed along the way — from goal setting, creative thinking, and communication to project management, digital literacy, and emotional expression.

Many of our participants work together across different mentoring streams — some come to music through creative life skills programming, others through individual tuition/mentoring or group collaboration. In every case, these projects represent moments of connection, courage, and growth.

What you’ll see here is a collection of musical submissions created by mentees and mentors alike — showcasing not only musical talent, but also the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of Unity Studios.

Life & Social Skills with a Creative Focus

We are proud to present major creative works by Steve and Martin, two dedicated mentees who attend Unity Studios twice a week to pursue their passion projects through our Life and Social Skills programming with a creative focus.

Each project is a reflection of how creative expression — whether through music, filmmaking, writing, or digital production — can be a powerful vehicle for personal growth, communication, and self-confidence.

Martin “The Big Heat” Ellul has worked closely with his mentors Liam and Chloe to write, perform, and produce a series of original songs, beginning with Positive Thoughts, a project that started as a literacy and wellbeing activity. From there, Martin’s creativity expanded into tracks like Girlfriend & Boyfriend and Better Than This, which showcase not just musical talent but emotional insight, positive messaging, and resilience. His songwriting process has helped him build skills in self-expression, digital production, and goal setting, while reinforcing a belief in his own voice and ideas.

Meanwhile, Steve Foti took a different yet equally powerful path, writing and performing in his original short film, The Situation. This project brought together elements of drama, storytelling, and collaboration across multiple programs and mentors. Steve demonstrated initiative and leadership by casting his six nieces and nephews and coordinating with fellow mentee Iverson (age 12), who co-produced and edited the film. This experience offered a real-world opportunity to develop social interaction, communication, planning, and teamwork in a meaningful, memorable way.

Both projects are strong examples of how Unity Studios supports young people to build life skills through creativity, empowering them to take ownership of their learning and share their work with pride.

About this project:
Nicholas (age 9) brings the laughs in this light-hearted and joyful showcase, where he shares five of his favourite jokes — delivered with his signature comic timing, sharp memory, and a great sense of humour!

As part of his Life and Social Skills programming at Unity Studios, Nicholas worked with mentors Cass and Chloe to bring this project to life — and it’s safe to say, everyone had an absolute blast putting it together. His enthusiasm, creativity, and love of performance made this a standout experience for the whole team.

Thanks for bringing the big FUN with a capital F, Nicholas — we can’t wait for Volume 2!

Life Skills in Action: Creativity, Confidence & Connection

Our Life Skills program at Unity Studios is designed to support personal growth through meaningful, hands-on experiences tailored to each individual’s goals and interests. This section of the online showcase highlights a diverse range of projects — from academic planning and poetry to digital design and interactive learning — all demonstrating the unique ways our mentees are building confidence, independence, and social-emotional skills.

Whether it’s Olivia’s journey balancing university life, Harmony’s creative handwriting challenge, Iverson’s digital character design, or Payton’s playful maths exploration, each project represents more than just a final product — it reflects real-world skill building, creative problem solving, and the power of personalised mentoring.

Academic & Wellbeing Tutoring/Mentoring: Confidence, Creativity & Curiosity in Learning

This section of our online showcase highlights the amazing work of our mentees in the Launch Academic & Wellbeing Tutoring/Mentoring Program — where personal growth meets academic exploration. Whether building confidence through poetry and public speaking, strengthening research and presentation skills through our monthly environmental focus, or stretching their thinking with hands-on STEAM activities, these young people are learning to connect their ideas with the world around them.

From Alira’s bold Shakespeare recital, to creative marine life presentations by Jia, Lisa and Levi, and our term-end STEAM experiments, each project reflects growing independence, curiosity, and voice. These sessions go beyond tutoring — they support each mentee to discover how they learn best, express who they are, and celebrate the learning journey with pride.
